Culture change

In today’s culture and religion, the message of Christ is centered upon the truth that we have eternal life after death. But in Jesus’ day, His message was a threat to culture itself, not just afterlife security!

Because it challenged the present culture to change. We today have incorporated Jesus into our culture. This creates more opportunities for us to miss what God wants to do since we preset ways by which we want to live.

If Jesus’ message challenged a culture that was formed by Gods direct command in the Old Covenant, how much more should it challenge ours today?!Familiar concepts to us today have a different meaning in Gods kingdom, like ‘family’ or when we say ‘my people’.

Jesus says in Matthew 12:46‭-‬50 that those who do the will of the Father is His mother and brothers. In John 18:36 :Jesus answered, “My kingdom is not of this world. If My kingdom were of this world, My servants would fight, so that I should not be delivered to the Jews; but now My kingdom is not from here.”

The Jews here is not mentioned as His people, not as family either, but Jesus’ kingdom is His and those in His kingdom that are fighting for His cause! The Spirit of God is eager to shift our perspective of ourselves and others. God wants to shape the way we do life and most importantly ‘why’ we do life.
